Meeting with Olavo de Carvalho Starts Today2008-09-29
The meeting on “Introduction to the Philosophical Model”, with Professor Olavo Carvalho, promoted by IPD (Development Promotion Institute), in Colonial Heights, Virginia, USA, starts today. The event brings together 35 Brazilians, who flew last weekend from several parts of the country, headed for the course that starts October 4, with 30 class/hours.
According to Olavo de Carvalho, all the great philosophers of the past practiced a set of techniques, many of which were mentioned in their work. However, none of them [philosophers] actually explained them comprehensively and systematically. The purpose of this third meeting is to provide a summary of such explanation, thus opening up an extremely old door to philosophical studies that most philosophy professors have ignored.
In the opinion of Carlos Gloger, IPD’s executive director, the courses are a complement to IPD’s actions in fulfilling its mission of “identifying and developing innovative initiatives capable of contributing to a sustainable development model based on personal growth.”
IPD is also promoting the 6th Paraná Contemporary Development Program, with the course “Introduction to Political Sciences” taught by Professor Luiz Gonzaga de Carvalho Neto in monthly modules. The classes will be held October 11 - 25.
