More companies join OrganicsBrasil2008-09-09
The number of OrganicsBrasil member-companies has gone up from 60 to 64 in the first 45 days of the second semester. In the same period, the first batch of organic kiwi was shipped to Europe. Overall, 20 tons of Brazilian fruits were shipped from the Port of Paranaguá (Paraná) to be distributed among the principal European wholesalers. The information comes from the project’s executive coordinator, Ming Liu.
He explains that OrganicsBrasil’s goal is to stimulate the industry’s growers and manufacturing companies to develop within this market by providing them with the support required to enhance their business and broaden their foreign trade opportunities.
“In the past decade, the industry grew continuously, but it wasn’t before 2008 that Brazilian organics hit stride”, explains Min. This is backed up by figures showing that OrganicsBrasil’s member companies broke financial records – US$ 29.1 million by this year’s first quarter. “This was our annual goal”, he states.
OrganicsBrasil was proposed and managed by IPD – Development Promotion Institute, jointly with APEX – Promotion and Exports Agency and FIEP – Federation of Industries of Paraná, with the purpose of supporting the industry and promoting and increasing business opportunities for Brazilian certified organics companies exporting abroad. The project gathers companies and producers under an umbrella brand that embodies our country’s vocation as a quality organics producer, meeting the most demanding social and environmental standards.
Certified organic products growers, manufacturers, and processors find in OrganicsBrasil an important business channel with space in the major organics trade shows around the world, strategically showcasing the Brazilian trade production.
The next trade shows in OrganicsBrasil calendar include: Biofach Tokio, Japan, September 24-26; Biofach Boston, USA, October 5 -18; Sial 2008 Paris, France, October 19 to 23; and Biofach São Paulo, Brazil, October 23 to 25.
