French Innovation Specialists Speaks in Curitiba on the 13th2008-08-07
French professor Marc Giget, a renowned innovation specialist in Europe, is the keynote guest speaker during the III Simpósio Senai de Inovação Tecnológica (Senai’s 3rd Technological Innovation Symposium), taking place August 13 and 14, in Curitiba. A specialist of CNAM - Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, France, Giget will give a talk on “Innovation: Or the Art of Defining the Future”, during the symposium’s opening session on August 13, at 7:00 pm, at Positivo University, for an audience of approximately 450 entrepreneurs from Paraná.
At CNAM, Marc Giget is responsible for training in innovation processes management and for “Best practices in innovation management”, an activity that mobilizes people in charge of the most innovative businesses around the world. Giget holds a holistic vision of innovation. According to him, innovation must be developed to meet the needs of individuals. By his definition, “Innovating is streamlining things for users.”
In his opinion, there is a historical correlation between the advancement of innovation and the growth of wealth in the world. “Brazil has taken great strides in the R&D area in the past 30 years, but it still needs to invest a lot more in innovation if it wants to keep developing at the same pace as its direct competitors, like China,” he adds.
According to the professor – who also founded the European Institute for Innovation Creative Structures – technological development is critical for the economic growth of any country, mainly in more recent years, when the world market is increasingly more interdependent. “The whole world spends about US$1 trillion in R&D. Among the developing countries, China is in the forefront, because it is the country investing the most in this area. It has more than 1 million researchers,” he says.
