Organic Cachaça made in Paraná increases its share in the domestic and international markets

2009-11-11

In just 20 days, Copercana officially launched the organic Cachaça Sagra in the domestic and international markets by exhibiting the product in two important trade shows of the industry: Biofach Tokyo October 8-9, and Biofach Latin America at Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo, October 28-29. Produced and bottled by the Nova Aurora Sugar Cane Agro-Industrial Cooperative (Copercana) located in western Paraná, Cachaça Sangra is an organic product inspected by the Biodynamic Institute (IBD) with European and North American certifications in strict compliance with all international quality standards. Copercana intends to change the municipality into a cachaça-producing excellence center.

Among the measures already taken by the cooperative is the emphasis on production with social and environmental responsibility; all employees are properly registered and the area has been declared a Natural Private Reserve (RPPN). Copercana is also part of the OrganicsBrasil project that was created to promote Brazilian organic products in the international market, a joint action of the private initiative (Development Promotion Institute and the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná) and government agencies (Apex-Brasil – Brazilian Agency for Exports and Investments Promotion). After these two trade shows in which the cooperative took part, Cachaça Sangra is sold in some of the best bars and restaurants in São Paulo City. Copercana is now getting ready to participate in the Biofach Nuremberg trade show that will take place in Germany, February 17-20, 2010.
