The challenge of sustainability necessarily involves innovation and management improvement. This is a quotation from the speech by the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (Fiep), Rodrigo da Rocha Loures, who presided the opening session of the Global Forum Business as an Agent of World Benefit (BAWB) on Monday, (9/14), representing the president of the National Confederation of the Industry (CNI), Armando Monteiro Neto.

According to Rocha Loures, innovation and management with a focus on sustainability take place when there is cooperation between the productive sector and universities. “For such, we must make a quality leap in terms of higher education, changing methods and curricula”, he pointed out.

Hosting the event, the president of the Federation of Industries of the State or Pará (FiepA), José Conrado dos Santos said that it is critical for the industrial sector to engage more and more in sustainable practices in their production processes. “CNI’s strategic map displays sustainable development as its primary goal,” remembered Santos.

Operations director of the National Service of the Industry (Sesi Nacional), Carlos Henrique Fonseca, alluded to the creation of the Global Forum, in 2001, in the aftermath of the attack to the World Trade Center in New York, with a view to disseminating good sustainability practices. “For 13 years, Sesi’s Quality in the Workplace Award has been identifying business experiences that promote sustainable development,” he underlined.

The governor of Pará, Ana Julia Carepa; Senator Fernando Flecha Ribeiro (PSDB/PA); and Congressman Gerson Peres (PP/PA) also attended the Global Forum’s opening session.
