IPD - 13 Years Devoted to Sustainability

2009-05-19

The Development Promotion Institute (IPD) is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year. Founded by entrepreneurs from Paraná on March 29, 1996, it was declared of public utility by Law 11,828 of December 12, 1997 and certified as an OSCIP (Civil Society Organization of Public Interest) on February 17, 2006. All through these 13 years, it underwent important changes in prioritizing its actions. The intent on becoming an avant-garde institution called for emphasis on initiatives that would allow the institute to act as a leader of actions aimed at a new development model that included personal growth and community participation.

In 2006, the name was changed from Paraná Development Institute to Development Promotion Institute. The wording remained almost the same, but it went beyond local action to become more national and international in scope. This change was driven by the Organics Brasil Project, one of IPD’s main initiatives, an umbrella project that facilitates the participation of Brazilian organics-producing companies in this industry’s international events.

Owing to its 13 years of solid experience, the Development Promotion Institute is a reference for companies and regional development agencies that wish to establish partnerships with a view to implementing projects and actions in this field. It is a civil society’s non-profit organization devoted to sustainable development based on the individual’s personal growth.

According to Carlos Gloger, the institute acts as an agent specializing in the identification and diagnoses of social, environmental, and economic need for both government and civil society and its varied productive segments. It is an institution fully capable of developing work proposals with various features, especially designed to meet local and global needs.

It has several and varied partners, including: the Fiep System, through SESI and Unindus; Apex-Brasil – Brazilian Agency for Export and Investments Promotion; the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply, through DENACOOP – Cooperatives and Associations Department; and the City of São José dos Pinhais, among others.
