From this agreement was born the Millennium Declaration that established the following priority: eradicating extreme poverty from the planet by 2015. For such, eight goals were set, the so-called Millennium Development Goals (MDG) to be achieved through specific actions to fight hunger and poverty, associated to the implementation of specific actions on health, sanitation, environmental, education, housing, and gender promotion and a pact in favor of development. The objectives were broken down into 18 goals that can be monitored through a set of 43 socio-economic indicators. Nós Podemos Paraná Movement – In 2006, Parana took up the challenge of anticipating the achievement of the Millennium Goals to 2010, five years ahead of UN’s deadline. This is how the Nos Podemos Parana Movement was created, proposed by the Corporate Citizenship Council of Parana (CPCE) of the Federation of Industries of the State of Parana (Fiep), in partnership with the Social Service of the Industry (Sesi) and the Development Promotion Institute (IPD) through the Sustainability Indicators Base Observatory (Orbis). The Nos Podemos Parana Movement’s structure was based on integrative and participatory discussion circles that aimed at increasing the potential of existing local actions and projects, by dividing them into: Dialog Circles, Work Circles; and Knowledge Circles. By using leading-edge tools, much partnering and mobilization, the Nos Podemos Parana Movement has been able to disseminate and promote the Millennium Development Goals all over the state, fostering a fully committed network to the sustainable economic development of the state.
