C3 Paraná Transactions Network

The Development Promotion Institute (IPD) and Instrodi (Strohalm Institute for General Development ), based in the Netherlands and with a chapter in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, established a partnership to implement – initially for Curitiba - a project to leverage and maximize businesses productivity and to  eliminate the financial costs of the production chain.

The C3 Paraná Transactions Network is an association of businesses and consumers whereby payment for goods and services is made through a barter-like system, eliminating the need for traditional currency.
The purpose of C3 Paraná is to heat up the Paraná market, encouraging trade, circulation of goods and services, in addition to increasing the liquidity of business companies.

The member companies can buy and sell their products using 100% cash-backed interest-free working capital that can be either spent in other transactions among member companies or converted into cash.

Advantages of the C3 Transactions Network:

  • Elimination of financial interest in production chains;
  • Innovative tool for speeding up sales;
  • Bonus given for cash deposits;
  • Access to supply and demand network;
  • Access to cash cheaper than bank loans;
  • No need for cash as working capital;
  • Company idle time reduction;
  • Elimination of costs and risks associated to long term and installment payments to/by customers and suppliers.

C3 Paraná is an innovative system based on practical knowledge confirmed by similar networks around the world. Good examples are Circuito CompRaS, in Rio Grande do Sul, with a membership of more than 700 companies and over R$ 600,000 in transactions; Turkbarter Network, in Turkey, with more than US$ 225 million; and Switzerland’s WIR, with more than 75 thousand member companies.

In Curitiba, the Transactions Network is under implementation, and is prospecting new members in numerous segments of the trade, manufacturing, and services industries.
